Systems Engineer

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead system design and integration of program sub-systems, Understands technical and functional requirements of systems components and their interactions. Assists in the development of systems and sub-system CTQ's (critical to quality) and ensures compatibility on a systems level.

  • Acts as a liaison between sub-systems teams to ensure overall systems and program requirements are met. Resolves conflicts between teams.

  • Develops and supports test programs both on site and in outside laboratories for both components and complete system.

  • Drives creativity and innovation in development and implementation technology roadmaps and platforms to be incorporated into the multi generational switchgear products roadmaps.

  • Always focus on customer delight - product reliability and life cycle cost.

  • Continuously develops and grows technology skills.

  • Identifies risks and mitigation planes, and carries out changes to plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved.

  • Continuously seeks to improve and optimize quality and cost of the products.

  • Participates in quality and cost improvement projects and new product development.

  • Effectively collaborates within engineering team and other cross functional teams.

Position Qualifications:

  • BS - Electrical Engineering; MS is preferred, Specialization in Power Engineering required.

  • Knowledge of Switch gear design and application.

  • Knowledge of power systems and / or industrial automation & controls.

  • Knowledge of Switchgear certification testing and standards including ANSI C37.60, C37.66, C37.74

  • Excellent analytical skills. Ability to see "big picture" yet understand functionality and interaction of individual sub-systems. Ability to sub-divide a system into its relevant components.

  • Understanding of six sigma techniques - DFSS. Familiarity with CTQ development and flowdown.

  • Working knowledge of design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional environment is a plus.

  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience operating successfully in matrix organization is a plus.

  • Knowledge if IEC standards is a plus.
