Senior Database Analyst

SUMMARY:

Develop, manage and monitor the development and maintenance of internal databases both external and internal to the business systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases.
  • Develop, maintain and implement policies for design and development standards.
  • Implement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.
  • Design, build, implement and support data warehousing. Implement business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies. Define user interfaces and functional and technical specifications.
  • Perform duties with minimal management guidance as to appropriateness for the business systems, design, development and implementation.
  • Lead other team members in maintaining standards of database design. Instruct interns and consultants on SSC standards for database development and design.
  • Review project requests describing the database user needs. Determine if request is a modification, new concept or corporate in scope.
  • Review related procedures and determine impact on users. Recommend changes to corporate systems.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be customer focused and be able to gather customer requirements. Must also have strong documentation skills.
  • RPGIII, RPGIV and PLE knowledge preferred.
  • Must have project management and evaluation skills as well as a strong understanding of database trends and technology development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Management and three to five years related experience and/or training.
  • Must have a strong understanding of business procedures as related to databases.
  • .Net programming experience as well as C+ programming experience required.
  • Must have data warehousing and Visual Basic programming experience.
  • Experience with Rainbow Portal, Sharepoint and/or Performance Analyzer preferred.
